Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday accused the Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) of pursuing "divisive politics" for power, claiming that they aim to "disrupt unity" within the Scheduled Tribes (ST), Scheduled Castes (SC), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) communities.
Addressing his second rally today in Jharkhand's Gumla district, the Prime Minister said, “Congress knows it was defeated in tribal, OBC, and Dalit-dominated states because our society united. That is why the royal family of Congress wants to break the unity of our Dalit society, SC society, tribal society, ST society, and OBC society.”
“These people want to undermine the reservation given to ST and SC communities. There are many castes within our tribal society — Oraon, Munda, Lohra, Kharia, Cheek Baraik, Nagesia, Kharwar, Korwa, and many others. Their voice will be strong only when they stay united as ST, as tribals,” he asserted.
The Prime Minister alleged that the Congress seeks to create discord within tribes to weaken their collective strength. “If divided into sub-castes, will the strength of the tribals be reduced? Will you allow it to be reduced? That is why I say if we stay united, we stay safe,” he urged.
Criticising the Congress and JMM on corruption, Modi accused them of "selling everything, including rivers, streams, and mountains."
He claimed, “JMM Congress leaders have built their palaces through sand smuggling. They even demand bribes for birth and death certificates. They’ve even looted the water taps meant for you.”
He further alleged that the JMM and Congress have misappropriated resources including ration, water, sand, coal, bread, land, and more.
“They’ve destroyed every aspect of life, and the youth have suffered most due to this corrupt system,” he said.
Modi also pointed out that exam paper leaks and recruitment frauds had plagued Jharkhand under previous governance.
“There hasn’t been any exam or recruitment in Jharkhand without scandal. I assure my young friends, the NDA government will hold them accountable for all their corruption,” he added.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the Dharti Aaba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, launched from Jharkhand to transform 60,000 villages.
“The BJP government will invest nearly ₹80,000 crore in these tribal villages. Permanent housing, improved village roads, drains, hospitals, and schools will be provided to ensure a better future for your children and secure victory for the people,” he concluded.
Following the rallies, PM Modi took part in a 3 km roadshow in Ranchi, the capital of poll-bound Jharkhand, with thousands of people lining both sides of the road to catch a glimpse of their leader.
The Prime Minister, seated atop a saffron-coloured open vehicle adorned with flowers and his cutouts, waved at the crowd, which chanted slogans like "Modi Zindabad."
This was the second roadshow by the PM here in the last six months.
