The Congress candidate, Naveen Yadav, filed his nomination on Friday for the forthcoming Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election. Yadav, aged 41, has a history of contesting elections in the constituency: he previously stood in the 2014 Telangana Assembly elections on behalf of the Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM and ran as an independent candidate in 2018. He joined the Congress Party in 2023.

The high-stakes by-election in the Jubilee Hills constituency is scheduled for November 11, with the counting of votes set for November 14.

The by-election was necessitated following the death of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath in June of this year due to a heart attack. The BRS has since fielded Maganti Sunitha, Gopinath’s widow, while the BJP has nominated Lankala Deepak Reddy.

Meanwhile, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi informed reporters that his party would not contest the by-election, alleging that the "BRS has failed to develop the constituency despite being in power for ten years."
