Congress will hold a protest on August 19 seeking regularisation of Kaushal Nigam workers and raising other issues, Haryana Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda said.

Addressing a press conference, Hooda said the party wants all Kaushal Nigam employees to be regularised and future recruitment to be made permanent. He alleged that the BJP had promised to regularise 1.25 lakh workers during the Assembly elections but had not issued any notification nearly two years later.

Hooda said contractual workers receive around ₹15,000-₹20,000 a month, while permanent employees doing similar work get at least ₹60,000. He demanded equal pay and other benefits for the workers.

He also announced that Congress would set up a committee, headed by senior leader Ashok Arora, to examine and highlight alleged scams of the state government. MLA Raghubir Kadian will be a special invitee.

Hooda said Congress MLAs would raise several issues during the upcoming Assembly session, including alleged bank-related scams, law and order, organised crime, tax hikes, rain-related waterlogging, farmer compensation, power employees' demands and the grievances of guest teachers and sanitation workers.

On fertiliser availability, Hooda alleged that Haryana had lifted only 8.14 lakh metric tonnes of the 9.59 lakh tonnes of urea allocated by the Centre up to August. He also said only 1.15 lakh tonnes of the allocated 2.53 lakh tonnes of DAP had been lifted.

Hooda further raised the SYL canal issue, E20 fuel and Haryana's demand to be a co-host for the Commonwealth Games. He also defended the Congress government's sports policy, citing athlete appointments, cash awards and the SPAT programme.
