Tension gripped Kamareddy town after Congress and BJP workers gathered outside the office of BJP legislator Venkata Ramana Reddy. Both groups raised slogans, leading to a heated situation.
The clash followed allegations and counter-allegations over a land issue between Reddy and Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Advisor to the Telangana Government. Reddy had challenged the Congress leader to have a public debate on the issue. However, police stopped Reddy from participating in the proposed debate.
As tensions rose, a large number of BJP and Congress workers assembled at the spot. Police tried to control and disperse the crowd. During the commotion, a vehicle was damaged and overturned.
BJP Telangana President N Ramchander Rao, in a post on X, condemned the incident. He described the alleged attack by Congress workers at the camp office of Kamareddy BJP MLA K Venkat Ramana Reddy as shocking and unacceptable. “Such acts of political violence have no place in a democracy,” he said. Rao also said that he would personally visit the site to stand with party workers and review the situation.
When contacted, Kamareddy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Chandra said that some individuals had been detained. He added that further arrests are being made.
