The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has set up a three-member enquiry committee to investigate reports of indiscipline and anti-party activities within its Jammu and Kashmir unit.

According to an official press release issued by Congress general secretary KC Venugopal, the proposal was approved by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and comes into effect immediately.

The panel will be led by Shaktisinh Gohil as convenor, with Dr Amar Singh and Rafeeq Khan serving as its other members.

Internal differences have escalated to the point where the central leadership has had to intervene and monitor dissenting voices within the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) ranks.

Senior Congress figures have openly expressed displeasure, alleging that the alliance partner National Conference is sidelining them in the ruling coalition.

Internal fractures peaked when 19 Congress district chiefs formally urged the party to reconsider or withdraw its support from Omar Abdullah’s government, citing breached alliance terms and broken promises regarding a Rajya Sabha seat.
