Union Home Minister Amit Shah alleged on Thursday that recent statements by Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif reveal a shared agenda between the Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance and Pakistan regarding the restoration of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).

In a social media post, Shah claimed, “The statement by Pakistan’s Defence Minister about Congress and JKNC’s support for Article 370 and 35A has once again exposed the true nature of the Congress party to the nation. Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly aligned himself with anti-India forces, undermining national sentiment.”

Shah recalled Rahul Gandhi’s past demands for proof of air strikes and surgical strikes, accusing him of supporting “every anti-India force” over the years.

He asserted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, neither Congress nor Pakistan will succeed in restoring Article 370 or in bringing terrorism back to Kashmir.

The post further stated, “Whether it’s questioning air strikes or making objectionable comments about the Indian Army, Rahul Gandhi’s Congress party and Pakistan have consistently been on the same page. Congress and Pakistan seem to forget that with Modi in power, neither Article 370 nor terrorism will return to Kashmir.”

In response, NC Vice President Omar Abdullah rejected Shah’s allegations, stating, “What does Pakistan have to do with us? We are not part of Pakistan; they should focus on their own country. They should not interfere in our elections or comment on them. They should concentrate on their own democracy, while we focus on ours.”

In a televised interview, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif was asked whether Pakistan and the National Conference-Congress alliance share the same stance on restoring Article 370 and 35A.

Asif confirmed, “Absolutely. Our demand is indeed the same. The National Conference and Congress hold significant importance in this matter.”
