Former chief minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the Congress will file a complaint with the Election Commission against the Returning Officer who allegedly rigged the Rajya Sabha elections, claiming that he conspired with the BJP and cancelled four Congress votes. Hooda demanded that the Election Commission take immediate action in the matter.
Hooda was speaking to reporters at his residence. Responding to a question about the INLD, Hooda said that the Rajya Sabha elections have once again made it clear that the INLD can never go against the BJP. He said this time the INLD did not vote because it knew that Congress’s victory was certain. Despite the cancellation and cross-voting, Congress had 28 votes, while the BJP-backed independent candidate received only 16 votes. Hooda said even if the INLD had voted for the independent candidate, Congress’s victory was certain.
Speaking on the shortage of LPG and petrol-diesel in the country, Hooda said for many years the BJP government charged the public double the tax on petrol and diesel compared to the Congress regime. He said now the excise duty is being reduced in a manner that does not benefit the public. Instead, fuel prices are continuously rising. He also raised the issue of Nayara increasing petrol and diesel prices and alleged black marketing of cylinders.
Regarding the gas shortage across the country, Hooda questioned that if the government claims there is no shortage, then why are long queues seen everywhere. He also blamed the BJP government for the shortage of cooking gas in Haryana and said that the government has not yet clarified the situation.
Raising questions about law and order, Hooda said that the situation has completely collapsed under the BJP government. He claimed that Haryana is the most unsafe state in the country, as revealed by the Central Government’s own Social Progress Index.
Referring to the Rs 590-crore scam in IDFC Bank and the ₹160-crore scam in the Panchkula Municipal Corporation, he said it is still not known under whose signatures the scams took place and who is responsible. He demanded that a thorough investigation be conducted, the names of the culprits be revealed, and strict action be taken against them.
Raising the issue of the alleged scam worth thousands of crores in paddy procurement, Hooda alleged that people holding high positions are involved, but the government is deliberately trying to implicate lower-level employees while protecting the real culprits.
