Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu congratulated party workers and the people of the state on the Congress party’s impressive victory in the urban local body elections.
He said Congress-backed candidates won 32 out of 47 municipal bodies in the state, proving that the public has strong faith in the policies and welfare programmes of the Congress government.
The Chief Minister said Congress-supported candidates received widespread public support across all districts and expressed gratitude to voters for their overwhelming backing.
He added that the trust shown by the people inspires the government to work with greater dedication, commitment and responsibility. The state government remains committed to effectively implementing welfare schemes and ensuring their benefits continue to reach people, he added.
Sukhu said the Congress party believes in the ideology of equality, balanced development and welfare for every section of society, and that these principles form the foundation of the state government’s functioning. He alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party practices divisive politics based on religion and caste.
He said the Congress government has fulfilled the promises made during the 2022 Assembly elections and has gone beyond its guarantees in delivering commitments. Several schemes have been launched and implemented for the welfare of women, labourers and marginalised sections. He added that significant reforms in education and healthcare have shown positive results.
Sukhu said the government has made serious efforts to strengthen the rural economy. A historic increase has been made in the support price of milk. In addition, support prices are also being provided for naturally grown maize, wheat, barley, raw turmeric and ginger. A ‘Kisaan Aayog’ has been established, and the long-pending demand of apple growers has been addressed through the introduction of the Universal Carton system.
The Chief Minister said these measures have ensured the welfare of farmers and horticulturists and paved the way for strengthening the rural economy of the state.
Congratulating all winning candidates, Skhu said everyone must now work together to make Himachal Pradesh a self-reliant, strong and prosperous state.
