Police is taking strict action against criminals, anti-social elements.


A Punjab Police head constable died of cardiac arrest while participating in a search operation under Operation Prahar 2.0 on Monday, officials confirmed. The officer, identified as Lakhvir Singh, 52, a resident of Kaoni village, was part of a police team conducting a raid at the house of a proclaimed offender in Warring village.

 

He was known to be diabetic, and the exact cause of death will be confirmed following autopsy and medico-legal formalities.

 

Station House Officer (SHO) Gurdeep Singh said, “Head Constable Lakhvir Singh was heading for a raid but died on the way at about 5.30 am.

 

”The operation, announced by Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, continued throughout the night and into Monday.

 

DIG Sanjeev Kumar Rampal, who was overseeing the operation in Muktsar, described the incident as unfortunate.

 

He stated, “I have informed the family about his death due to a heart attack. Financial assistance will be provided to the family in accordance with the established rules and procedures.”

 

Meanwhile, SSP Abhimanyu Rana briefed reporters that more than 650 police personnel have been deployed for Operation Prahar 2.0.

 

He added, “Of these, 500 are from the district police, while 150 additional personnel were brought in from other districts for the raids.

 

Police established a total of 22 interstate and interdistrict nakas, leading to the arrest of 37 criminals. The operation, which began early Monday morning, will continue for 72 hours.”
