Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar has issued a stern warning to members of his Cabinet, saying that any minister found guilty of corruption will be immediately removed from office.
Chairing a State Cabinet meeting at the Secretariat, Vijay reiterated his government's zero-tolerance policy on corruption. He said allegations of bribery, malpractice or other irregularities would be dealt with swiftly. "If complaints are received and proven, I will not hesitate to remove the minister concerned," he said.
The Chief Minister also directed ministers to closely monitor the functioning of officials in their respective departments to ensure transparency and accountability in governance.
In another directive, Vijay cautioned ministers against conducting unnecessary inspections, particularly at educational institutions. He said such visits should not disrupt academic activities. While allowing ministers to carry out essential departmental inspections, he advised them to avoid excessive visits and discouraged the use of such occasions for social media promotion, including posting reels.
He further instructed ministers and party functionaries to maintain discipline and decorum during public interactions, especially during district visits, and to avoid any actions that could trigger controversy.
Vijay also asked the Cabinet to focus on improving administrative efficiency across departments, identify reasons for revenue losses during the previous regime, and explore ways to increase government revenue.
The warning comes as part of the Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government's efforts to reinforce its clean governance image. Recently, the party suspended several office-bearers and a leader following allegations of bribery, signalling a tougher approach towards internal accountability.
