The Counter-Intelligence Kashmir unit of the Jammu and Kashmir Police is carrying out raids across 10 locations in four districts of Kashmir Valley, officials said.
As per the police statement, the CIK unit is carrying out the searches in connection with a terror crimes investigation into an alleged sleeper cell and a recruitment module being managed by the commander Abdullah Ghazi of Jaish-e-Mohammed from across the border.
The ongoing raids are focused on one location in south Kashmir’s Pulwama, six locations in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal District, one in Srinagar, and two other locations in Budgam District.
Earlier last week, Jammu and Kashmir’s state investigation agency (SIA) busted and dismantled terror financing networks operating in the region, with coordinated search operations across three suspected locations in Jammu, Doda, and Handwara.
These comprehensive searches aimed to secure critical evidence to unravel a complex conspiracy involving cross-border funding through crypto currency, designed to fuel terrorism and destabilise peace in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Jammu and Kashmir police, over the past few years, have intensified their counter-insurgency operations in UT, with a focus on dismantling the terror support and logistical network system, which have posed greater threats in the region.
The searches are part of an ongoing investigation under Sections 18, 38, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), along with Sections 120B, 121, and 121A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), registered at Police Station CI-SIA Kashmir.
During the searches, the team of investigators collected articles and electronic devices that are expected to aid the State Investigation Agency Kashmir in identifying and apprehending co-conspirators and accomplices orchestrating these anti-national activities.
