A search operation has been started after a couple allegedly jumped into the Sutlej river in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. Police said the two are feared to have been swept away.
The missing couple has been identified as Dhooni Chand (35) and his wife Sonia (27), who hailed from Batala in Mandi district. They had been residing in the Anni area, where Dhooni Chand worked at a hair salon.
The police received a call on Wednesday evening saying that a couple had reportedly jumped into the Sutlej and had been swept away.
A police team immediately reached the spot and began a search and rescue operation with the help from scouts and local residents. The efforts to find the couple are still going on. The reason behind the couple taking such an extreme step is also being probed, they added.
