Four members of a family were found dead under suspicious circumstances at their home in Harman Nagar area of Ferozepur on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as a husband, his wife and their two minor daughters.
Initial probe suggests that the incident may be a case of murder-suicide. Police said Amandeep Singh reportedly shot dead his wife, Jasveer Kaur, and their daughters, Manveer Kaur (10) and Parmeet Kaur (6), before using his licensed revolver to kill himself.
Police said Amandeep Singh was involved in property dealing and construction work, while his wife ran a beauty parlour from their residence.
Neighbours became suspicious after noticing that the house remained locked and no one responded despite repeated knocks. They later informed the police.
Senior Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh said that, prima facie, it appears that Amandeep Singh took his own life after killing his family members.
“Further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances and motive behind the incident,” he said.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and police are collecting forensic evidence from the spot. The incident has left the neighbourhood in shock and mourning.
