The economic offences wing of the Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) has successfully apprehended a long-pending warrant against Khalid Sahani, son of Farooq Sahani, resident of Reshi Mohalla, Khar Doori, Shaheed Gunj, Srinagar, officials said.
A spokesperson in a statement said, “The warrant against the aforementioned individual was issued by the Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Vailoo, and District Anantnag on 03.12.2021, under Section 512 CrPC, in connection with Case FIR No. 38/2018 under Sections 419 and 420 RPC registered at Police Station Crime Branch Kashmir.”
He said that the alleged individual had been evading arrest for the past four years. Though on Friday, the Economic Offences Wing successfully caught the involved person. The statement further added that while “acting on credible inputs, the EOW (Crime Branch Kashmir) apprehended the accused on October 10.
After the arrest, he was produced before the court today, where the court ordered that the police be given judicial custody and directed that he be lodged in the central jail in Srinagar,” the statement added.

With this arrest, a long-pending 512 CrPC warrant has been successfully executed, marking a significant step forward in the pursuit of justice in this case of financial fraud, it reads. The Crime Branch Kashmir reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that criminals involved in financial wrongdoings are brought to justice, no matter how hard they may try to escape the law.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s State Investigation Agency (SIA) and CBK are considered to be the main organs probing terror-related and financial crimes in Jammu and Kashmir.
In recent times, these agencies have shown immense capabilities while probing the crimes, arresting individuals linked to terrorist and secessionist activities and also unearthing the massive financial frauds committed by entities and individuals, including high-ranking police and administrative officials.
