The Amritsar Commissionerate Police busted a cross-border arms and narcotics smuggling module with links to Pakistan with the arrest of five operatives and recovery of 12 pistols and 1.5 kg of heroin from them.
Disclosing this in a statement on Thursday, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said that according to preliminary investigation, two of the, Joban Singh and Jashanpreet Singh, were in direct touch with Pakistan-based smugglers and coordinated consignments through the social media to fuel inter-gang rivalries in Punjab
An FIR has been registered under the Arms Act and the NDPS Act at Gate Hakima police station, Amritsar. Further investigations are on to expose the full nexus, including backward and forward linkages of the network.
