An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) died inside a camp after falling unconscious in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday, officials said.
The ASI, who was posted at the Horticulture Camp in the Zainapora area of Shopian, suddenly fell unconscious inside the camp.
He was immediately rushed to the nearby Community Health Centre (CHC) Zainapora, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Officials said the deceased was a resident of the Rajbagh area in Kathua district.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
While no official confirmation has been given about the cause of death, a suspected cardiac arrest is believed to be the reason.
However, only a post-mortem examination will be able to determine the exact cause of the ASI’s death.
