Security forces averted a major tragedy after recovering and safely neutralising a pressure improvised explosive device (IED) planted inside a beer bottle by Maoists near the Peediya-Mutvendi road in Gangaloor, Bijapur district.
The explosive device was discovered during a demining operation conducted by the 85th and 199th Battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), aimed at ensuring the safety of personnel patrolling the region. Upon detecting the hidden IED, the CRPF Bomb Disposal (BD) team acted swiftly to defuse the explosive, preventing potential harm to security forces and civilians.
This incident underscores the evolving tactics employed by Maoists, who continue to use unconventional methods to target security personnel and disrupt operations in the conflict-affected Bastar region. The use of a beer bottle as a concealment method highlights their attempts to evade detection while maintaining their offensive strategy.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to countering insurgent threats and ensuring the safety of local residents. Security forces remain on high alert, conducting regular anti-Naxal operations to neutralize such threats and restore peace in the region.
The successful recovery and disposal of the IED mark yet another victory for the CRPF in its ongoing efforts to curb Maoist activities and enhance security in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-affected districts.
