A CRPF jawan was among four people killed on Tuesday when a bus hit a parked load carrier and a motorcycle in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
The accident occurred near the Jakhani–Chenani area on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway at around 11 am.
According to officials, the bus was travelling to Jammu from Doda district when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The bus first hit a motorcycle and then collided with a load carrier which had developed a mechanical fault and was being repaired on the roadside.
Officials said the mechanic and the load carrier driver died on the spot while two more persons travelling in the bus were thrown out through the emergency exit and later succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital.
On January 22, at least 10 Army personnel were killed in a road accident while 11 others suffered injuries when their bulletproof vehicle fell into a 200-foot-deep gorge in Doda district.
Of the 21 personnel on board, 10 soldiers died—four at the accident spot and six later from injuries—while 11 others sustained serious injuries, officials said. The injured personnel were evacuated, with many being airlifted to the Command Hospital in Udhampur for specialised treatment.
The White Knight Corps described the incident as “unfortunate” and confirmed that the vehicle slipped off the road while navigating difficult terrain.
The deceased soldiers were later identified as Monu (Bulandshahr, Hindon), Jobanjeet Singh (Roopnagar, Ambala), Mohit (Jhajjar, Hindon), Shailendra Singh Bhadoriya (Morar, Gwalior), Samiran Singh (Jhargram, Kalaikonda), PradumnaLohar (Purulia, Ranchi), SudhirNarwal (Yamunanagar, Ambala), Hare Ram Kumar (Bhojpur, Bihta), Ajay Lakra (Ranchi), and RinkhilBaliyan (Hapur, Hindon).
