The Dehradun district administration has imposed restrictions around 16 examination centres to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for candidates appearing in the NEET re-examination on June 21, officials said on Saturday.
Acting on directions from the director general of the National Testing Agency (NTA), Additional District Magistrate Krishna Kumar Mishra issued a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the BNSS. The restrictions will apply within a 200-metre radius of all designated exam centres in the district.
The order will remain in force on the day of the examination and continue until the test concludes on Sunday.
Under the order, no gathering of five or more people will be allowed near the exam centres, except for candidates appearing for the test.
The administration has also banned people from carrying firearms, lathis, swords or other sharp weapons near the centres. Storing stones, bricks or iron rods in the area has also been prohibited to prevent any disturbance.
To avoid distractions for students, the use of loudspeakers has been banned around the exam venues. Political sloganeering, provocative speeches and distribution of misleading material will also not be allowed.
No rallies, protests or vehicle processions can be held near the centres without prior written permission from the administration.
Officials have warned that anyone found violating the restrictions will face action under Section 223 of the BNS. Sector and zonal magistrates have already been deployed at the 16 centres, which include Kendriya Vidyalayas, Army Public School in Birpur and the Women’s Institute of Technology in Sudhowala.
Police station in-charges have also been directed to maintain strict vigil and spread awareness about the restrictions.
