Curfew restrictions in the outer regions of Haldwani, Uttarakhand, have been eased following violent clashes stemming from the demolition of an illegal madrasa. While areas outside Banbhoolpura have seen the lifting of curfew, tension remains palpable in the aftermath of the unrest. Shops have cautiously reopened their doors, yet schools remain shuttered as a precautionary measure.

Law enforcement, under the vigilant oversight of Additional Director General (ADG) of Police A P Anshuman, asserts control through continuous patrolling in the affected zones. Anshuman, stationed in Haldwani, assured that the situation is now under control, although the Banbhoolpura sector still bears the weight of curfew enforcement due to its role as the epicentre of the violent outburst.

In response to the turmoil, authorities have apprehended five individuals implicated in the violent episode, with three separate First Information Reports (FIRs) filed in connection with the incident. To quell potential unrest and the dissemination of misinformation, internet services remain suspended throughout the area.

As the dust settles, officials report no fresh incidents of violence. However, the aftermath reveals a grim toll, with six rioters losing their lives during the clashes. Moreover, over 60 individuals sustained injuries, with seven currently hospitalized for treatment, including a journalist, with three in critical condition.
