The death toll in the helium cylinder blast that occurred near the Mysuru Palace on December 25 has risen to three, police said on Saturday.
Lakshmi, 29, a resident of Kamakshipalya in Bengaluru, succumbed to her injuries late on Friday while undergoing treatment in KR Hospital, police officials said.
A police officer said Lakshmi had suffered grievous injuries in the blast, including severe abdominal trauma, so could not be saved despite intensive treatment.
Wife of an auto-rickshaw driver in Bengaluru, Rajesh, who originally hailed from Hosahalli village in Mandya district, she had come along with her husband to Mysuru on Thursday. The couple was staying at their relatives’ house in Belavadi and were visiting the area when the incident took place.

On Friday, another injured woman, identified as Manjula, also died while undergoing treatment at KR Hospital. Earlier, Saleem, the helium balloon seller, was killed on the spot when the blast occurred.
Police said Saleem, a native of Uttar Pradesh, had been staying at Lashkar Mohalla in Mysuru along with two others and making a living by selling balloons.
With the National Investigation Agency (NIA) joining the probe, investigators suspect foul play, say sources. Police also said further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the explosion.
