Monsoon showers continued across Uttarakhand on Friday, bringing light to moderate rain to several areas. The weather remained cloudy in most districts, while Tejam in Pithoragarh recorded light rainfall during the early morning hours.

In Uttarkashi district, debris from recent rains blocked the Gangotri National Highway (NH-34) at several locations, including Helgugad, Nalupani and Gangnani. Road-clearing teams were deployed to restore traffic movement.

The Yamunotri National Highway (NH-134) was also affected by debris accumulation near Durbil and Syanachatti. Authorities were carrying out restoration work to reopen the route as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, the Badrinath and Kedarnath highways remained open and traffic was moving normally on both stretches, providing relief to Char Dham pilgrims and travellers.

Officials said no rain-related disasters or major incidents had been reported from any district in the state as of the latest update.

The impact of continuous rainfall in the hill regions was visible in Rishikesh, where the Ganga rose above the warning level at Triveni Ghat. The situation prompted authorities to step up safety measures along the riverbanks.

According to officials, the river was flowing with strong force after heavy rainfall in the upper catchment areas. In response, teams from the SDRF, Water Police and other disaster management agencies launched awareness and evacuation drives at Triveni Ghat, Muni Ki Reti and Laxman Jhula.

Using public address systems, officials urged pilgrims, local residents and tourists to stay away from the river and move to safer places. They warned that the rising water level and swift current had made conditions hazardous, increasing the risk of accidents near the ghats.
