Delhi reports 30 fresh COVID-19 cases, actively tally at 592

Delhi recorded 30 new COVID-19 infections taking the count of active cases to 592, according to Union Health Ministry data released on Friday.The number of fatalities since January 1 stands at seven, with no fresh deaths recorded since Thursday.

Delhi recorded 30 new COVID-19 infections taking the count of active cases to 592, according to Union Health Ministry data released on Friday.The number of fatalities since January 1 stands at seven, with no fresh deaths recorded since Thursday.

 

Active cases across India stand at 5,364, with four deaths reported in the past 24 hours. Kerala continues to be the most affected state, followed by Gujarat, West Bengal and Delhi, ministry data shows.In view of the rising cases, the Centre is conducting mock drills to check facility-level preparedness for COVID-19.

 

All states have been instructed to ensure availability of oxygen, isolation beds, ventilators, and essential medicines in view of rising cases of COVID-19. Rekha Gupta led Delhi government last month issued a crucial Advisory directing all hospitals to prepare for adequate availability of beds, oxygen, essential medicines and vaccines in response to resurgence of COVID 19 cases in the national capital.

 

 Gradual increase in the number of cases has prompted heightened vigilance at the level of concerned ministry and related departments.

With all the hospitals and healthcare facilities placed on high alert, the government has said it is fully prepared to handle any situation. However, in wake of the fact that during the year 2021 when second wave of COVID which took huge toll across the country,

 

Delhi was worst affected both in terms of toll as also the Health infrastructure which completely crumbled with all hospitals unable to handle hundreds of COVID patients, resulting in huge loss of lives. However, this time the government is taking no chances and issuing advisory on complete preparedness -from testing of samples for genome sequencing to availability of infrastructure including arrangement of isolation wards. The government has also urged people not to panic, instead stay calm and follow all safety measures.
