On the concluding day of Chhath Puja, lakhs of devotees across Bihar gathered at dawn to offer 'arghya' to the rising sun.
The festival saw participation from several political figures, including Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union Minister Chirag Paswan, who performed rituals alongside their families.
In the state capital, devotees thronged the banks of the Ganga and other water bodies, united in devotion to the Sun God.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar celebrated with his family at his official residence, 1 Anne Marg, where he offered prayers in a traditional Chhath ceremony.
Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan also performed the customary 'arghya' ritual from his residence in Krishnapuri, sharing his participation in a post on X, stating, “On the fourth day of Chhath Puja, offered 'arghya' to the rising sun with the entire family."
To ensure smooth celebrations, Patna’s district administration had made extensive arrangements at over 100 ghats along the Ganga.
Medical camps were set up, and security was tightened. Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajeev Mishra conducted early-morning inspections across several ghats to review the festival’s preparations and ensure the safety of attendees.
On Thursday, Kumar and BJP National President J P Nadda toured the Ganga’s ghats on a steamer, observing the Chhath celebrations.
Kumar also offered prayers to the setting sun with his family in a ceremony at his residence before joining Nadda.
Chhath Puja, observed six days after Diwali, honours ‘Chhathi Maiya’ and the Sun God, seeking blessings of health and prosperity.
The four-day festival commenced on November 5 with the 'nahay-khay' ritual and concluded with the offering to the rising sun.
