Harjinder Singh Dhami has been re-elected as the president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for the fifth consecutive time in the election to the top post conducted here on Monday.
While Dhami secured 117 of the 136 votes polled, his rival candidate Mitthu Singh could manage only 18. One vote was declared invalid.
Dhami’s re-election reflects confidence in his leadership within the SGPC and Shiromani Akali Dal circles.
Other key SGPC office-bearers were also elected. Raghujit Singh Virk was elected as senior vice-president, Baldev Singh Kalyan as junior vice president and Sher Singh Mandwala as general secretary.
The SGPC also announced the names of interim committee members, including Surjit Singh Garhi, Surjit Singh Tugalwala, Surjit Singh Kang, Gurpreet Singh Jhabbar, Diljeet Singh Bhindar, Harjinder Kaur, Baldev Singh Kaimpuri, Major Singh Dhillon, Mangwinder Singh Khaparkhedi, Jungbahadur Singh Rai, and Mithu Singh Kahneke.
