Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday headed a review meeting to review the progress of agriculture-related GI tags, House of Himalaya, Millet Mission, Apple Mission, Kiwi Mission, and Honey Mission.

He also appraised the department’s action plan for the coming year. The meeting was organised at the State Secretariat in Dehradun.

On Wednesday, Dhami gave appointment letters to 1,035 assistant teachers in primary education, including 17 special educators, at Government Doon Medical College in Patel Nagar, Dehradun.

While congratulating the selected candidates on Wednesday, Dhami expressed confidence that the newly appointed teachers would play an important role in improving the quality of education in the state.

CM Dhami said the responsibility of shaping Uttarakhand’s future rests with these teachers. "When a child receives quality education along with moral values, it not only transforms their own life but also makes a valuable contribution to the development of society and the nation. Teachers are the architects of the country's bright future," Dhami said.

He further stressed that besides providing quality education, teachers should instil in children a sense of responsibility towards society, culture, and the nation so they grow into disciplined and responsible citizens.

He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is constantly working to modernise and improve the education system. From boosting school infrastructure to promoting digital education, teacher training, and skill development, reforms are being carried out at every level.

He also said that over the last four and a half years, over 28,000 youths have been given government jobs in the state. This, he said, is not just a number but a matter of youth self-respect. The number of jobs created during this period is more than double that of the years following state formation and previous governments. He added that the government will not allow anyone to compromise with the future of the youth.

Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat said that during the last four and a half years, over 11,500 appointments have been made in the Education Department, while recruitment for over 3,500 posts is currently underway. He said special focus is being given to innovation in education across the state.
