Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting in Dehradun to review preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s planned visit on April 14 to inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor, also known as the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. Dhami told officials to ensure smooth arrangements and make the event grand and well-organised.
Calling the occasion historic and highly important for the state, Dhami said the economic corridor is expected to significantly boost job opportunities, tourism activity, and trade across Uttarakhand. He noted that the project would open new avenues for growth and strengthen the state’s economic prospects in the coming years.
The Chief Minister asked officials to ensure participation from all sections of society so that the programme reflects a public celebration rather than a routine official function. He stressed the need for inclusive involvement to create a sense of collective pride and public ownership of the event.
Dhami directed authorities to decorate the venue using a mix of traditional and modern themes. He also emphasised greater participation of local artists and cultural groups, stating that the programme should showcase Uttarakhand’s rich heritage, traditions, and cultural identity.
He urged residents to step out of their homes and participate enthusiastically in the Prime Minister’s roadshow by carrying the national flag. The Chief Minister urged people across the state to help create a festive and celebratory atmosphere during the visit.
Highlighting the importance of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor, Dhami said the project would give fresh momentum to Uttarakhand’s development journey and further integrate the state with the country’s mainstream growth and infrastructure network.
He added that the sharp reduction in travel time between Delhi and Dehradun would greatly benefit tourism while also encouraging industrial expansion and commercial activities, leading to new employment opportunities, particularly for the youth.
The Chief Minister further said the corridor is expected to bring transformative changes in logistics, transportation, and investment flow, ultimately strengthening the state’s economy and accelerating overall development.
