Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday reviewed the long-pending matters concerning residual assets and liabilities shared between Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Chairing a meeting at the Secretariat, CM Dhami directed officials to speed up the resolution process, especially in cases where mutual agreement had already been reached during previous discussions.
He also shared that a meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will be held soon to discuss and settle unresolved issues between the two neighbouring states.
Highlighting recent progress, CM Dhami noted that following the last meeting between the two CMs, water sports have been permitted in the reservoirs and canals located in Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar districts.
He added that the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department has paid ₹57.87 crore in electricity dues, and the UP Fisheries Corporation has transferred ₹3.98 crore to the Uttarakhand Fisheries Development Agency.
The Chief Minister further informed that a partial payment has been made toward liabilities owed to the Forest Development Corporation of Uttarakhand. Similarly, the remaining dues related to Parivahan Nigam have also been cleared. In addition, a decision has been made to dispose of assets under the Housing Development Council.
Earlier in the day, CM Dhami also welcomed Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt to his official residence in Dehradun. Dhami also congratulated for his second term as the state BJP president. BJP State General Secretary (Organisation) Ajaey Kumar was also present at the meeting.
Mahendra Bhatt, who began his first term as state BJP chief on July 30, 2022, expressed his gratitude to the party’s central leadership and CM Dhami for their continued trust. Bhatt said the BJP will now focus on winning the upcoming Panchayat and State Assembly elections in the region.
