Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Tuesday that Khel Mahakumbh aims to identify and encourage young sporting talent across the state. The event will also give athletes from villages and remote areas better opportunities to showcase their skills and compete at the state and national levels.
The Department of Youth Welfare and Provincial Guard Corps has prepared the plan for the Khel Mahakumbh-2026 Chief Minister Championship Trophy for the 2026-27 financial year. Competitions will be conducted at four levels — Nyaya Panchayat, Assembly constituency, parliamentary constituency and state level.
Competitions at the Nyaya Panchayat level for local public representatives will be held from September 1 to 10. The MLA Championship Trophy at the Assembly constituency level will follow from September 11 to 20. MP Championship Trophy events at the parliamentary constituency level will be held from September 21 to 30. State-level Chief Minister Championship Trophy competitions are scheduled from September 10 to October 30.
At the Nyaya Panchayat level, boys and girls in the Under-14 and Under-19 categories will compete in kabaddi, athletics, kho-kho and Murga Jhapta. At the Assembly level, volleyball and Pittu will be held directly, along with events involving players selected from the Nyaya Panchayat competitions.
At the parliamentary constituency level, athletes will compete directly in mallakhamb, tug of war, marbles, football and badminton. Other events will include participants selected through the Assembly-level competitions.
The state-level events will feature a wide range of sports, including judo, boxing, table tennis, taekwondo, karate, basketball, hockey, handball, yogasana, swimming, archery, fencing, wrestling, pencak silat, powerlifting, weightlifting, baseball and lawn tennis. Several other competitions will also be held with players selected at the Assembly level.
Separate competitions have also been planned for women in the open category. Events will also be held for male and female athletes with disabilities.
Uttarakhand Youth Welfare and Provincial Guard Corps Director Deepti Singh has issued a detailed plan for the event. She has asked all concerned departments to extend their support to ensure the successful conduct of Khel Mahakumbh-2026.
