A day after flashfloods hit Dharali village in Uttarkashi district, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the area on Wednesday to check on rescue and relief work.
He met families affected by the disaster and promised them all possible support. “Met the families of those affected by the disaster in Dharali (Uttarkashi) and assured them of all possible help in this hour of crisis. This disaster has caused immense grief to many families, we understand their pain. Our government fully stands with the affected families,” Dhami wrote on Facebook.
"Disaster management and relief operations are being carried out rapidly. Our priority is to search for every missing person and provide full support to the affected families," he said.
Before reaching Dharali, the Chief Minister also took an aerial survey of the flood-hit region and reviewed operations from the disaster control room in Uttarkashi.
On Wednesday, one body was found and around 150 people were rescued from Dharali. However, many remain missing, and rescue efforts are ongoing despite heavy rain and difficult conditions.
Among the missing is a group of 28 tourists from Kerala, who were visiting the area when the floods struck.
