Nineteen vehicles from the convoy of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav malfunctioned after they had been loaded with tainted diesel late last night. This happened when the convoy stopped at a petrol pump for refuelling without knowing that the fuel being dispensed contained water. The petrol pump has since been sealed.
Certain cars were able to depart from the fuel station but broke down on the highway a few minutes later, while some were not even able to move away from the pump.
CM Yadav went to Ratlam to attend a regional industry skill and development conclave. The 19 cars were to be in Yadav's convoy on Friday.
Shubham Parmar, a convoy driver, informed the local media that the cars had left from Indore for the Chief Minister's event on Friday. "We travelled from Indore and stopped at a petrol pump and filled up. The first few cars that moved out of the petrol pump stopped in the middle of the highway, but others stopped at the petrol pump itself."

The driver explained that when they tested the fuel, it was found to be contaminated with water, after which the local authorities were informed.
Local Naib Tehsildar Ashish Upadhyay said that an investigation was in progress. Upadhyay had questioned the authorities of the petrol pump as well, who suspected that in the last few days, rainwater must have got into the diesel tanks, contaminating them. The petrol pump has been sealed off and the authorities have been attempting to trace the owner of the outlet.
