With the launch of 'Atal Panchayat Digital Suvidha Kendras', the Chhattisgarh government is all set to revolutionise service delivery for the people of the state. A public relations department official stated that the state government’s new initiative will help people of Chhattisgarh to access services such as cash transactions, and get birth and death certificates in their respective village panchayats, rather than having to travel to distant development blocks or district headquarters.

The state government is planning to start the program in 1,460 village panchayats from April 24 on National Panchayati Raj Day. The official further stated that these Kendras would offer essential services like cash payment, digital services etc.

Service providers of the Common Service Centres and sarpanchs (village heads) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for establishing the facilities in 10 village panchayats of each development block in the state. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai was also present at the occasion.

According to the official, residents of the state would be able to pay their water and energy bills, withdraw money from their accounts easily, deposit money into their own and other people’s accounts, and receive money under their insurance and pension plans at these centres.

Residents won’t need to travel to the district headquarters or development block for minor tasks. They will have access to many facilities in the village itself, the official added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised the people of Chhattisgarh to start the facility of cash payment in gram panchayats, the Chief Minister said, adding that with this step, his government will fulfil another promise under Modi's guarantee (poll promise).

"We have fulfilled most of the promises under Modi's guarantee in just 16 months, including paddy procurement for farmers at Rs 3,100 per quintal, payment of pending paddy bonus for two years, Mahtari Vandan Yojana (financial assistance scheme) for women, Ramlala Darshan Yojna for the elderly people and annual assistance of Rs 10,000 to 5.62 lakh landless agricultural laborers," he said.

“At these digital facility centres in village panchayats, farmers will be able to get payment for the sale of paddy, and benefits under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, pension and other schemes, and will also be able to avail other services including issuance of birth and death certificates,” the CM added.
