Dr Harminder Singh Baweja, who assumed charge as the Vice-Chancellor of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni on Saturday, was given a warm welcome by students, faculty, and staff upon formally joining office.
On Monday morning, Dr Baweja called on the Governor of Himachal Pradesh and Chancellor of the university, Kavinder Gupta, and thanked him for the opportunity to serve the agriculture, horticulture, and forestry sectors through the university. He discussed the functioning and future vision of the university and assured the Chancellor of his full commitment towards strengthening research, extension, and academic activities, while providing the best possible learning environment for students.
The Vice-Chancellor also held discussions with statutory officers of the university and heads of departments regarding ongoing activities and future plans of various departments. He said the university would make every effort to further strengthen its academic, research, and extension programmes so that UHF Nauni could reach greater heights and enhance its national and international standing.
Dr Baweja met representatives of several associations, including the University Teachers’ Association and non-teaching and technical staff associations. He interacted with members of all associations, listened to their concerns, and assured them that a comprehensive roadmap would be prepared to address employee issues.
During his interaction with students, Dr Baweja assured them of his commitment to transforming the campus into a world-class centre of learning and research.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Dr Baweja thanked the university staff and office-bearers of various employee associations for their support and goodwill. He stressed the importance of collective efforts for the overall development of the university and urged all stakeholders to work together so that UHF Nauni can effectively serve the farming community and continue to play a leading role in advancing horticulture and forestry sectors.
