Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi on Thursday chaired a Cabinet sub-committee meeting to assess the progress of the proposed Him-Chandigarh City township near Baddi in Solan district. He said a drone survey will soon be carried out to digitally map the land parcels for the project.
During the meeting, Solan Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma presented a comprehensive report on the township. He also briefed the panel on land availability and the status of related revenue records.
The panel was informed that 3,428 bighas of land have already been allotted for housing purposes. In addition, around 5,000 to 6,000 bighas of land from the common pool have also been identified for the project.
The officials were also told that the Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA) will soon carry out a drone survey to digitally map all identified land parcels.
It was further informed that HIMUDA and the Revenue Department, in coordination with the tehsildars concerned, will jointly carry out land consolidation. This process is expected to be completed within one month, after which a single consolidated land parcel will be created for the township.
Under the proposed Him-Chandigarh township near the Chandigarh border, the state government plans to develop a well-planned urban centre with modern amenities. The project aims to complement the existing “Tricity” of Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula by linking to the industrial corridor and providing new housing and infrastructure.
