The Indian Army recovered a second suspected Pakistani drone in a week from Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district, prompting a forensic probe.

The Indian Army recovered a drone from Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district, the second within one week from the same district, officials confirmed on Sunday.

Following the recovery, intensified surveillance and investigation have been ordered by security agencies as attempts to thwart cross-border smuggling and infiltration bids continue at the international border and Line of Control.

Officials said that personnel from the Territorial Army recovered a suspected Pakistani drone from the Sangar fields in the Purmandal area late Saturday night.

Following the recovery, the drone was sent for forensic examination to determine its source of origin, technical specifications, and whether it was used for any cross-border activity, including narcotics smuggling.

Apart from yesterday’s recovery, armed forces have seized multiple drones in the recent past, with one of the recent incidents of drone seizure reported on July 14. Security forces recovered a quadcopter-like drone from an agricultural field in Devak village of Samba district after security forces had activated the anti-drone jamming mechanism.
