The Station House Officer (SHO) of Rajpur police station in Dehradun has been suspended after crashing his car into three vehicles while allegedly driving drunk, police said on Thursday.
The accident happened late Wednesday night when the SHO, Shanky Kumar, hit three vehicles one after another and then tried to escape. Bystanders stopped him and recorded a video, which quickly went viral on social media.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Singh took note of the video, which showed Kumar’s inappropriate behaviour, and suspended him immediately.
The SSP also ordered a case to be registered against Kumar for misconduct and for causing damage. A medical test of Kumar and others involved in the incident was also conducted.
Police said Sub-Inspector Deepak Dhariwal, earlier posted as the station head of Kalsi, has now been appointed the new SHO of Rajpur.
