The Punjab Police have suspended a DSP for allegedly misbehaving with a girl student. The 2020-batch DSP was undergoing the residential certified investigator course for Punjab Police personnel at the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Patiala. “He misbehaved with the student on the campus and action was recommended,” said a senior IPS officer.
It is learnt that the incident took place about 10 days ago when the DSP allegedly misbehaved with a girl pursuing a law degree. The action followed a complaint to the higher authorities of the university, which brought the matter to the notice of the special DGP of the anti-narcotic task force (ANTF), who was coordinating with the university authorities on behalf of the state police.
The suspended officer has been identified as DSP (headquarters), Hoshiarpur, Babandeep Singh. The DSP has been shifted to India Reserve Battalion (IRB), Kapurthala during the suspension period.
