Election Observers for bypoll to Assembly constituency number -77, Nagrota, on Friday visited several polling stations to review the arrangements made for the convenience of the voters ahead of the bypoll.
The team, consisting of General Observer KunalSilku, Police Observer Avinash Kumar and Expenditure Observer Ashish Yadav, inspected polling stations at Nagrota, Panjgrain, Khanpur and Rathoredhok. Their visit was focused on assessing the arrangements and also interacting with the locals to issue on-the-spot instructions to the concerned ARO.
Police and the other administrative officials were directed to ensure foolproof arrangements at all polling stations, including adequate lighting and drinking water facilities.
The team stressed generating awareness among the voters regarding the polling process, the functioning of the grievance redressal mechanism among the voters regarding the polling process, the functioning of the grievance redressal mechanism and the importance of maximum voter participation in a well-organised and peaceful atmosphere.
Earlier, scrutiny of nomination papers from the upcoming Assembly bypolls in the 77-Nagrota and 27-Budgam constituencies was formally completed yesterday.
According to the returning officer of both constituencies, only 10 nominations were found valid in the Nagrota constituency, whereas 17 were from the Budgam seat during the scrutiny process.
Meanwhile, a total of 33 candidates had filed their nomination papers for the Nagrota seat, whereas 20 had filed for the Budgam seat. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 24. The polling for both Assembly constituencies will take place on November 11, while the counting of votes is scheduled for November 14.
