Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers launched simultaneous raids on six locations in Kolkata, including the residence of a Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA, on Tuesday morning. The raids are part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, an ED official said.
Searches were conducted at the Sithi home of Sudipto Roy, TMC MLA for Serampore, as well as at the residence of a medicine dealer and four other premises, according to the official.
“These raids are based on information we’ve gathered regarding financial irregularities at RG Kar Hospital. Our investigation is ongoing,” the officer told PTI.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has already arrested former RG Kar principal Sandip Ghosh and three of his associates in connection with the case. The financial discrepancies came to light following the rape and murder of a woman doctor at the hospital.
