The Enforcement Directorate will register an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) in the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission’s Graduate Level examination’s (JSSC-CGL) paper leak case in Ranchi.
The JSSC-CGL exam was held on January 28 and after the examination it was found that one of the papers of the examination was leaked one day before the examination. The leaked paper was viral on social media the next day. Sources said that the ED has decided to investigate money laundering in the paper leak case.
The agency has written a letter to the state government in this regard on Monday, seeking information about the case. An ECIR will be registered after the state government sends the information of the case.
After the paper leak issue came to light on January 28, Commission's Under Secretary in-charge Madhumita Kumar registered a case against unknown persons at a Ranchi police station. In the case registered by the Commission on January 28, it was said that the question papers were leaked before the commencement of the examination.
The Commission got this information through social media. The case was registered under sections 467, 468, 420, 120B IPC and 66 IT Act, Jharkhand Conduct of Examination Act 2001. The responsibility of investigating the case has been given to DSP Prabhat Ranjan Barwar.
Notably, an FIR was also lodged against about 4000 students who were protesting over the paper leak issue. Fifteen students including student leader Devendra Nath Mahato have been named in the FIR.
The students were agitating in front of the JSSC office demanding postponement of the examination held on January 28 and the examination to be held on February 4.
Police also resorted to lathi charge to disperse the mob, which made the students furious. The students had gheraoed the JSSC Chairman and also broke windows of his vehicle.
