A 28-year-old garment trader allegedly died by suicide inside his clothing store in Sector 3 of Faridabad. Before his death, he posted a video on social media and left behind a suicide note alleging harassment, physical assault and humiliation by his wife and her family.
Following the incident, Faridabad Police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against eight members of the deceased's in-laws' family. According to police, the accused are absconding and efforts are underway to trace them.
Police Outpost In-charge Sanjay Sharma identified the deceased as Rahul, a resident of Sector 3 in Faridabad. He said Rahul got married in 2024 and owned a clothing shop in the area.
"Rahul (28) was a resident of Sector 3. He was involved in a dispute with his wife, which led him to die by suicide. Rahul had gotten married in 2024 and ran a clothing shop. A case has been registered against eight members of his in-laws' family. The investigation is underway," Sanjay Sharma said.
Rahul had opened his retail clothing store on the ground floor of his house about a month ago. The incident came to light after his brother, Amit, noticed a video uploaded on Rahul's Instagram account and feared something was wrong.
The family immediately rushed to the shop and broke open its locked glass door. They found Rahul dead inside and informed the police.
In the video, Rahul claimed he had been wronged and appealed for legal action against those he held responsible. He also expressed his wish that his shop and other assets should be inherited by his mother and siblings. Police are investigating the case, and further details are awaited.
