In a tragic incident, an eight-year-old girl was mauled to death by a leopard in a forest area near Mandori village, Bijnoi, UP, officials reported on Sunday.

 

According to Naib Tehsildar Vivek Tiwari, the incident occurred on Saturday evening when Sunita, a resident of Mandori village, ventured into the forest with her daughter, Divyanshi, and other women to cut grass.

 

While the women were busy with their work, Divyanshi was playing nearby when a leopard suddenly attacked her.

 

The other women, upon hearing her screams, raised a hue and cry, which frightened the leopard and caused it to flee, leaving the girl severely injured.

 

Divyanshi was immediately rushed to a community health center, but despite the efforts of the medical staff, she was declared dead upon arrival, Tiwari confirmed.

 

The tragic incident has left the village in shock and mourning.

 

Local authorities have urged residents to exercise extreme caution when entering forested areas and have initiated measures to prevent future attacks.
