Two officers of the Haryana State Enforcement Bureau were allegedly injured during an attack by suspected members of the mining mafia while inspecting an illegal mining operation in Ghata Shamshabad village, Nuh district.
According to police reports, the assailants reportedly freed a tractor-trolley that had been seized for illegal mining activities.
An FIR was filed against three named suspects and 22 unidentified individuals at the Ferozpur Jhirka police station based on a complaint lodged by Inspector Surajmal, the SHO of the Haryana State Enforcement Bureau in Nuh.
Surajmal stated that he, along with Assistant Sub-Inspector Rakesh and driver Rafiq, were en route to inspect an alleged illegal mining operation along the Ferozpur Jhirka-Beewan Road.
As they neared the Ghata Shamshabad police naka, Surajmal attempted to stop three tractor-trolleys laden with stones, but the vehicles did not comply.
"They drove the tractor-trolleys into the forest... a tractor driver drove into the village. Two tractor-trolleys were moving in front of me and (the driver of) one of them emptied the trolley and ran away. After that, I called the Ferozpur Jhirka SHO for help and, within a short time, 20-25 people came and pelted us with stones," Surajmal alleged.
The inspector reported that the stone-pelting resulted in injuries to him and his team, and they managed to escape with considerable difficulty.
During the chaos, someone drove away with the abandoned tractor-trolley, he added.
The Ferozpur Jhirka SHO arrived with his mobile staff and a team from the mining department, but the suspects had already fled by the time they reached the scene, the complaint revealed.
