An engineering student lost his life following a violent clash between two groups of students at a private institute in the Premnagar area of Dehradun, police officials said on Tuesday.
According to authorities, three of the accused named in the complaint filed by the victim’s family have been arrested in connection with the incident, which took place on Monday night in Kehri village. Dehradun City Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar said two groups of students got into a brawl during which 22-year-old Divyanshu Jatrana, a resident of Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh, suffered critical injuries.
Kumar said Jatrana’s friends rushed him to a hospital in the Premnagar area. Upon receiving information, the police reached the hospital, where they were informed that due to the severity of his condition, he had been referred to Doon Hospital for further treatment. As the hospital’s ambulance was not functional, police personnel transported the injured student to Doon Hospital in their own vehicle. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
