AIADMK state general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami launched his state-level campaign for the 2026 Assembly election in Tamil Nadu's Mettupalayam on Monday. Former Chief Minister, who was touring all of Tamil Nadu's 234 Assembly constituencies, reiterated that the Athikadavu-Avinashi irrigation project would be developed and implemented further to assist all farmers.
Interacting with weavers and farmers of Thekkampatti after launching his campaign, Palaniswami stated, "We reaffirm our commitment that ours will be a farmers' friendly government." Preceding this, he made a pilgrimage to the Vana Bhadrakali Amman temple before beginning his poll campaign entitled: "Let's protect the people, Let's redeem Tamil Nadu."
Edappadi K Palaniswami on Sunday reiterated again that his party would come back with an "absolute majority" and form the next government in the State in 2026. The people of Tamil Nadu yearned for change and were ready to pack back home the DMK government led by Chief Minister MK Stalin, which has purportedly failed to fulfil the majority of poll promises made to the people, according to the Leader of the Opposition.

"Let us remember our success. We will definitely come to power in 2026. The AIADMK will secure a clear majority and make the government," he declared in an open letter to his party members. The citizens, in his view, were incensed with the widespread corruption in the DMK administration. The educated youth were indignant with Stalin for not having generated jobs, Palaniswami asserted.
The Stalin government has not kept most of the poll promises it made to the people. Therefore, the Tamil Nadu people are very much upset. I am the general secretary. But I am the first among the partymen to work together with you," he stated.
Referring to his 'Makkalai Kaappom, Thamizhagathai Meetpom' drive, which he is going to embark on throughout Tamil Nadu, Palaniswami appealed to his party men to join the mission. "Since Puratchi Thalaivi Amma (her rule), the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam was the ruling party and, subsequently, the major Opposition party. Thus, a force that cannot be driven out of the political scene."
In yet another statement, Palaniswami condemned the DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) government's move to erect LED screens at several locations to display its works in the last four years.
Making a reference to recent orders to this effect, the former Chief Minister said those living in villages went through hardships without adequate road and drainage facilities and power supply, among others. "I request the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government to abandon the move which would squander the taxpayer's money," he further added.
