Senior AIADMK leaders and former Tamil Nadu Ministers C Vijayabaskar and MR Vijayabaskar have announced that they will join the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on July 2, marking a significant political development in Tamil Nadu's changing political landscape.
In separate statements issued to the media, both leaders confirmed their decision to join TVK and continue their political journey under the leadership of actor-turned-politician Joseph Vijay. They said the move reflects their commitment to public service and their desire to work more closely with the people through a new political platform.
C Vijayabaskar, who previously served as Tamil Nadu's Health Minister, highlighted his more than 35 years in public life. Recalling his tenure during the COVID-19 pandemic, he said he worked with dedication to strengthen the state's healthcare response and ensure effective public health management during one of its most challenging periods. He added that his decision to join TVK followed careful consideration of his future role in public service.

Former Transport Minister MR Vijayabaskar, who has over 43 years of public life, also confirmed his decision to join the party. Reflecting on his tenure, he said he undertook several initiatives to improve the Transport Department and described the five years of his stewardship as a "golden era" for the department.
He also highlighted his continued engagement with the people of Karur, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he actively participated in relief efforts and welfare measures for those affected by the crisis.
Both leaders expressed confidence in Joseph Vijay's leadership and said they believe their association with TVK will provide a stronger platform to contribute to public welfare, good governance and the development of Tamil Nadu.
The formal induction ceremony will be held on July 2 at 9 am at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Mahabalipuram. According to the leaders, party functionaries and media representatives have been invited to attend and cover the event.
The induction of the two senior AIADMK leaders is expected to provide a significant boost to TVK as the party continues to expand its organisational base and strengthen its political presence ahead of the next phase of its growth.
