Ahmedabad City Police have arrested Pradhuman Vijendra Singh Chandrawat, 25, the son of former Madhya Pradesh MLA Vijendra Singh Chandrawat, for his involvement in a chain-snatching incident.
The police acted quickly, arresting him within four days, and recovered the stolen gold mangalsutra, worth Rs 1,25,000, as well as the tool used in the crime.
On January 25, at around 8:30 pm, Vasanthiben Iyer, 65, was walking home on Gurukul Road, near the Solution Building, when a thief approached her and used a metal cutter to snatch her mangalsutra. He quickly fled before she could react.
Following the victim's complaint, Ghatlodia police started an investigation. The police team, led by Senior Police Inspector JS Kandoriya, reviewed CCTV footage and other evidence, which helped them identify the suspect.
On January 29, at 6 pm, the police arrested Pradhuman, who lives in Thaltej, Ahmedabad, but is originally from Malaheda village in Madhya Pradesh. During the arrest, they recovered the stolen mangalsutra and the metal cutter used in the crime.
During questioning, it was revealed that Pradhuman is the son of former MLA Vijendra Singh Chandrawat, which raised concerns about the involvement of relatives of political figures in criminal activities.
