Senior leaders Krishan Kamboj and Mohit Grover join the Congress in Haryana, marking a significant shift in the state's political landscape.

In a significant boost to the Congress in Haryana, two prominent leaders with substantial grassroots support have joined the party, bringing along thousands of their followers.

The latest entrants include Krishan Kamboj, son of former MLA Shri Ramchandra from Rania (Sirsa), and Mohit Grover, former district head and state general secretary of the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP).

Grover, who garnered 48,638 votes as an independent candidate from Gurgaon in the 2019 assembly elections, is expected to strengthen the Congress’s prospects in the region.

The joining ceremony, held under the leadership of former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Haryana Congress President Chaudhary Udaibhan, saw a host of other influential figures from various political backgrounds also pledging allegiance to the Congress.

Hooda and Udaibhan warmly welcomed the new members and assured them of full respect and opportunities within the party.

Notably, the event also witnessed the inclusion of retired IAS officer Vikas Yadav and Rajesh Kona, former chairman of Zila Parishad, Panchkula, into the Congress fold.

The influx of new members, particularly those with a strong local presence, is being viewed as a strategic move by the Congress to consolidate its position ahead of the upcoming elections.

Addressing the media after the ceremony, Bhupinder Singh Hooda took the opportunity to sharply criticize the BJP government’s recent actions against Group-D employees.

He condemned the administration's decision to detain thousands of employees, including many women, who had gathered in Panchkula to demand promotions and 1800-grade pay. Hooda termed the government’s crackdown as "completely undemocratic" and accused it of consistently ignoring the legitimate demands of its workforce.

Hooda assured the employees that their grievances would be addressed, promising that the old pension scheme would be reinstated if the Congress came to power in Haryana.

His comments come at a time when the BJP-led state government is facing mounting criticism for its handling of the ongoing employee protests, which have further strained its relationship with the working class.

The joining ceremony also saw a slew of other political figures from the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and JJP switching loyalties to the Congress.

Among them were Dr Hariram Saini, Constituency Head of INLD, Panipat Rural; Ganga Gupta, District President of the Business Cell, JJP, Panipat; and Brij Mohan Mittal, District Vice President of the Business Cell, JJP, Panipat.

Several former general secretaries, vice presidents, and district secretaries from both the INLD and JJP, along with key members from various constituency and district committees, also joined the Congress, marking a significant realignment of political forces in Haryana.
