Explosion took place in Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Café on Friday.


Nearly 10 people were injured in an explosion that took place in Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Café located in Brookefield area on Friday afternoon. 

 

As per the reports, a bag that had explosives blasted. The forensic team says that they were informed about a cylinder blast in the café which led to the explosion.

 

Police sources have confirmed that the injured people are not critical and are said to be safe.

 

The Deputy Commissioner of Police of the Whitefield area is known to have reached the spot, following the explosion at the Café, which is one of the most popular food joints in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

 

Taking note of the situation, forensic officials have arrived at the location. Chaos seem to have shrouded the area adjacent to the café with the presence of police and fire officials.

 

Police are investigating the matter. Owing to this, the area has been fenced. The number of those injured might increase with time.

 

Ruling out the possibility of any gas cylinder leakage, TN Shivashankar, Director of Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services department said, "I along with my team of officers inspected the spot.... There is no sign of gas leakage from any cylinders at the spot as per our initial probe."

 

Edison, an eyewitness said, "I was waiting outside the eatery for my turn when suddenly we heard a loud noise... an explosion. We got scared not knowing what it was. There were around 35-40 people at the eatery. They all started rushing out and there was absolute chaos. They started saying that a cylinder exploded. But we don't know exactly what happened." Amruth, who works at a private firm nearby, had just placed his order when he suddenly heard a huge explosion.

 

The incident has taken a political turn with Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Lok Sabha, Tejasvi Surya, taking to X, and seeking answer from the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government on the blast. His post reads: “Just spoke to Rameshwaram Café founder Sri Nagaraj about the blast in his restaurant. He informed me that the blast occurred because of a bag that was left by a customer and not any cylinder explosion. One of their employees is injured. It seems to be a clear case of a bomb blast.”

 

Rameshwaram Cafe is a South Indian chain of QSR modules in Bengaluru. It is a trademark registered under the mother company M/s. Altran Ventures Pvt. Ltd.
