Police in Bihar’s Nawada district have uncovered a cyber fraud racket that allegedly lured men with false promises of payments of up to ₹10 lakh in exchange for impregnating childless women, officials said on Friday.

The scam, which operated under the misleading name “All India Pregnant Job Service”, was run through social media platforms and targeted unsuspecting men with offers presented as a paid “service”. Two accused, including a minor, have been arrested in connection with the case.

According to the police, the accused advertised the scheme on Facebook and WhatsApp, promising easy money, free sexual access and assured payouts. Victims were told that even if pregnancy did not occur, they would still be paid half the promised amount.

Investigators said the fraudsters attempted to make the offer appear legitimate by sharing photographs of female models and using suggestive phrases such as “Playboy Service” and “Baby Birth Service”. Interested individuals were then asked to pay registration fees, followed by additional charges on the pretext of hotel bookings, documentation and verification.

Once payments began, the demands escalated. Victims were repeatedly asked to transfer money for supposed medical tests, accommodation and other expenses. By the time many realised they had been deceived, they had already lost substantial sums.

Police said several victims initially refrained from lodging complaints due to fear of social embarrassment, allowing the racket to operate undetected for months.

A Special Investigation Team of the Nawada Cyber Police arrested Ranjan Kumar, a local resident, while a minor was also taken into custody. Four mobile phones allegedly used to run the operation were seized.

Superintendent of Police Abhinav Dhiman said the accused have confessed to their roles in the fraud. A case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including cheating, theft and forgery, along with relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act.

Police noted that a similar scam was unearthed in the district in January last year, when three people were arrested for running an almost identical operation under a different name.

Cyber police officials have urged the public to remain vigilant against unrealistic job offers circulating online. Deputy Superintendent of Police Nishu Mallik appealed to people to promptly report suspicious digital activities, cautioning that silence only emboldens fraudsters.
